Create in me

This week I will be leading worship at Park Springs Christian camp for the 8th year. I started leading worship out there when I was still in high school and have only missed one year since.

Summer camp is always one of those occasions to refuel and refocus. We’re able to get away from distractions and spend a week doing nothing but focusing on God and spending quality time with like minded friends. It can be refreshing, it can be peaceful, it can be profound, and it can be earth shattering.

This year, my focus leading up to the week has been Psalm 51. Specifically, these verses (which Keith Green did a great job setting to music).

10Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

I think that’s what God wants to do this week. Please take the time this week to pray for the 100 or so middle schoolers that will be present, that they will experience the joy of God’s salvation and that their hearts will be transformed in the process.
