Being Born EP

Description

Wes’s Being Born EP is an intimate moment with an artist just beginning to find his voice. Songwriter and producer Andrew Osenga describes the album, “Intimate and elegant, sparse yet complete. This recording is a great snapshot of the artist Wes is now, and an exciting picture of the one he’s becoming.”

The EP features Wes’s standout single “Little Darling” which became a quiet anthem for individuals struggling with eating disorders.

This is a song written for a friend who went through rehab for a severe eating disorder. She moved back to Nashville with a healthy body but a heart still struggling to find peace, meaning, and God’s plan amid a lingering turmoil. This song is a prayer for my friend.

As I wrote, I was reminded of Horatio Spafford’s hymn “It is Well With My Soul” which was birthed out of tremendous tragedy yet became an anthem of hope and trust in God’s eternal comfort. Spafford’s four daughters had died in a shipwreck on the way to Europe, and as he travelled to grieve there with his wife, his ship passed the spot were his daughters had perished. He chose that moment to pen the words

“Whatever my lot,
Thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.”

Sometimes it is all but impossible to sing Spafford’s courageous words, but as a part of the Church, we have a great ability, and indeed a great calling, to intercede for one another. Our prayers and support for those around us enable them to sing when they have no voice on their own.
